Just south of the Bedfordshire town of Stotfold, on the site of the former Fairfield Hospital, was a brand-new housing complex called Fairfield Park.
The Fairfield Development originally included roughly 100 apartments in the majestic Victorian Grade II* listed former hospital building in addition to 900 homes of various housing kinds.
The County Council determined that a new lower school should be located inside the new development because of its size and distance from the Stotfold lower schools.
The school will be located in the middle of the Park, off of a square with a lot of established trees surrounding it.
The headteacher, Mrs. Stone, was hired to build and set up the school with resources and staffing. The school was finished and inaugurated in September 2007 with about 70 students.
The High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and school members placed a "Time Capsule" in 2008 as part of the opening ceremony. The capsule will be opened in 25 years.
As soon as it became clear that the school required a full Extended Services offer, the head and governors requested funding from the local government to construct what is now known as "The Pavilion" on the school grounds in 2009. This building houses our pre-school and provides full wraparound care, including a breakfast and after-school programme run by a private business called Poppyfields.
The school has developed steadily over the years in the neighbourhood and received a "Outstanding" rating from Ofsted in 2012. The head was thrilled with this status, particularly given the school's enormous development in terms of personnel and students year after year.
The achievement has been attributed to the Head's and the dependable leadership team's unwavering focus on standards, teaching, and learning.
The local community has consistently oversubscribed the school and given it high ratings.
The school was expanded from a 1-form entry school to a 2-form entry school after the Head and governors again pressed the local authority for more space.
This was finished in July 2013, and students and staff moved into their new wing in time for the 2013–2014 academic year.
Since 2007, the home development has continued to expand, and in 2018 we opened Ruskin Drive, our second location.
