From the Darwen Vale High School
The school had a long history before that, having been founded as Darwen Gammar School in 1894. When the former grammar school underwent a multi-million pound reconstruction in 2012, we kept the magnificent facade. We are really lucky to have a variety of fantastic facilities, including a 3G sports field, a brand-new sports facility, a fitness centre, and a dedicated dance studio. The school is improving, and the students' grades are rising quickly. Our English scores greatly improved in 2018 and are now on par with the national average. Our progress 8 figure increased, and we are optimistic that 2019 will bring about another record-breaking improvement. Academically, Darwen Vale High School students will excel above their own goals and earlier achievements. They will have an exceptional and fun day. This is straightforward but aspirational; we anticipate that children will advance beyond what is anticipated of them from their starting points in year 7 to their end points in year 11. When they enrol with us, we want students to believe they can do more than they actually can, and we also want them to enjoy their time at Darwen Vale. We achieve this through assisting them in developing as people and as citizens, and by educating them on how to contribute fully to society and achieve success. That is our goal. This is supported and reinforced by our ethos. For the majority of us, setting our standards too low rather than raising them poses the greatest risk. Before they know you care, no one will care how much you know. we are all members of several communities and teach our young people how to be active members of those communities. We will, as staff seek to embody and demonstrate these attributes, traits and qualities and develop them in our young people.
