From the Connaught School for Girls
The first school on the Connaught Road property was a transient mixed school that began operations in 1900 and closed after four years. As a part of the Norlington Road Council School for Males, Girls, and Infants, the school was converted to a high school for boys in 1904. Connaught Road Senior Girls School with a Junior Mixed Department was the name of the school's reopening in 1932. In accordance with the Leyton School Board's 1929–32 reorganisation plan, the reopened school was the only one in Leyton to be constructed between the two World Wars. When the school converted its adjacent properties into a secondary (modern) school for girls in 1948, the junior mixed department was forced to close. For the scientific and physical education departments, a school annex was constructed on Madiera Road in 19601. A new dining room and main assembly hall were added to the main site in 1964. In the 1970s, the school changed its name to a community secondary "comprehensive" school for females. The school changed its status in February 2013 to become a publicly financed autonomous academy for females ages 11 to 16.
