Welcome
May I take this opportunity to welcome you to The City of Derby Academy. I am delighted, and very proud, to be the Headteacher. Our educational philosophy is to provide all students with an engaging and enjoyable learning experience which will develop both academic and personal success.
Your child is at the heart of everything we do and the school's vision is nurtured through the principles of Question, Explore, Give and Succeed.
Question Question who you are and who you want to be; Question, then listens to the response; Question your actions and your understanding
Explore Explore every opportunity and new ways to do things; Explore others' values, beliefs and the world around them;
Give Give 100% every time; Give equal respect to all and find time to help others;
Succeed Succeed as part of a team; Succeed in everything you do even if at first you fail; Succeed with good spirit and humility;
At the City of Derby Academy, we believe that academic outcomes are important and our expectation is that we will achieve national progress standards. However, we do not measure the success of our students by their examination results alone. We continually strive to develop skills such as self-confidence, self-belief and self-esteem so students are equipped to be successful in their next stages of life.
We believe that when the school, parents/carers, and students share high expectations every child will achieve great things. This includes having an excellent attitude centred on respect, high standards of appearance, good manners, full attendance and punctuality.
We believe that the City of Derby Academy is a vibrant and successful school where all students thrive through shared values of pride and family. We are proud to members of QEGSMAT and more information on the Trust can be found at www.qegsmat.com.
If you would any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
I look forward to welcoming you to the City of Derby Academy
