From the Cirencester Deer Park School
In order to ensure that all of our students benefit from our strong academic and inclusive ethos, we successfully combine the traditions and legacies of our combined past as a grammar school (1461-1966) and specialist school for technology, the arts, and applied learning (1995-2010) with 21st Century learning.
The curriculum at Deer Park and our students' behaviour have routinely received high ratings from Ofsted (2007, 2010 and 2013).
Cirencester Deer Park opened as a mixed Comprehensive School for students in grades 11 through 18 in 1966.
The LEA reorganised the school in September 1991 into an 11-16 comprehensive with more than 1000 students.
Cirencester College, which provides a wide range of A level and applied programmes for 16 to 19-year-olds, now shares the campus with it.
The school successfully transitioned to academy status in 2011.
As part of the Government's Specialist Schools' Initiative, the school successfully applied to become a "Technology College" in January 1995. Subsequent re-designations strengthened this commitment.
The school received recognition as a designated Training School in 2004 and has continually earned the renowned International School's Award from the British Council (2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014).
In 2005–2006, the institution's forty-first year as a comprehensive school, it was successfully reclassified as a specialist school.
One of the first comprehensive schools in Gloucestershire to successfully convert to an academy was this one in 2011.
With a fun schedule of commemorative events, we commemorated our combined anniversaries in September 2016—50 years as a comprehensive school and 25 years as an 11–16 school.
