Chudleigh Knighton C.E. Primary is a thriving, friendly and happy village school of 111 children which are split into 4 classes; Belstone (Year 5/6), Burrator (Year 3/4/5), Saddle Tor (Year 2/3), and Haytor (Foundation/Year 1). In September 2006, it became the first school in Devon to formally join forces with Blackpool Primary School, another nearby institution. The First Federation, which formerly included elementary schools in Devon, is now a Multi Academy Trust. (Click here for more details about the First Federation.) All schools are governed by a single group of governors and leaders. Our typical class size is 27, which allows the teaching staff to fully concentrate on individualised instruction and address the requirements of each child. The children and parents already knew that this is a highly good school with many outstanding aspects, and our March 2017 Ofsted report verified this. Students are making good progress, and as a result, the standards at the end of Year 6 are high in reading and above average in writing and maths. All instruction is of a high calibre, and teachers provide a stimulating environment for creativity. Our gifted staff of teachers takes pride in what they do, and the vibrant environment both makes learning enjoyable and boosts standards. Visitors frequently remark on the school's "warm and inviting atmosphere." If you would like to see for yourselves please contact us and we can arrange for our House Captains/Prefects to give you a guided tour, after which I will be pleased to answer any questions that you may have.
