Children get an understanding of history and the wider world through theme work. Through the use of artefacts, field trips, visitors, and multimedia, a feeling of wonder is fostered in children and a close connection is made between teaching and their experiences. Through a vibrant and varied curriculum, students are immersed in both British and global history during their time in school. We have a plethora of artefacts that have given the kids wonderful learning opportunities, and we constantly encourage them to look at primary and secondary sources to determine the legitimacy of their findings. A few of our memorable travel experiences include going to museums, seeing interactive displays like the Stockport Air Raid Shelters, and meeting Roman tourists. The children got the chance to apply what they had learned to the neighbourhood, and they recently gave a World War II assembly for the locals, which they were quite pleased of. Children are exposed to maps at a young age in geography classes, where they develop a knowledge of their immediate surroundings and make comparisons with similar communities in the UK and around the world. They are well-versed with the locations of the continents and the nations that make up each one. Children in Key Stage 2 investigate the relationship between the community's physical and human characteristics of the environment. Throughout their time in school, teachers urge students to utilise compasses, maps, and embark on numerous field trips and expeditions.
