On April 21, 1814, Angela Georgina Burdett-Coutts, Baroness Coutts, was born. She received her grandfather's wealth in the Coutts family banking business in 1837. In making her philanthropic decisions, she was motivated by Charles Dickens and the Duke of Wellington. The Bishop of London established the Burdett-Coutts and Townshend Foundation School in 1765. A lot of previous pupils, notably William Morris "Billy" Hughes, emigrated to the colonies to begin new lives.
