The College provides other forms of assistance to a significant number of ASC students in addition to the 12 Base students. The Base staff who are on duty may quietly watch and guide the children's social interactions during these important, regulated exchanges. We recognise that parents are frequently the foremost experts on their own children, and by staying in close contact with parents, we aim to take use of this knowledge. Some children have a notepad or planner that teachers and teaching assistants use to inform parents about happenings during the day and that parents use to comment on important events at home or at school. We don't have an open house policy since students with ASC have a harder time than most adjusting to change and a lack of regularity, but we are more than pleased to host brief visits from small groups of parents or professionals every term if they are scheduled in advance.
