Read about the things that are significant to us at Bicton School as well as how we approach British Values.
Through our Christian ethos, we at Bicton C E Primary School strive to offer a challenging, safe, and encouraging atmosphere where students are encouraged to reach their greatest potential.
For the school to be successful, we think it is important for students, parents, teachers, administrators, governors, the larger community, and the church to work together.
In order to commemorate what is unique about our school, we set out to develop a school motto over the fall and spring semesters of 2016–2017.
Learning for a Lifetime was developed through the repeated occurrences of learning, friendship, caring personnel, special trips and visits.
We recently reviewed our fundamental Christian principles, and students, teachers, and governors collaborated to convey the values that are central to our school's mission and how we live them out every day.
Throughout the week, we frequently refer to our Christian values and discuss how they relate to Jesus' teachings as well as how they are demonstrated in the way we conduct our lives.
The basic British principles of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and respect for people of all religions and beliefs must be promoted, according to the Department of Education, which has lately reaffirmed the necessity of doing so.
The importance of democracy is highly regarded at Bicton C. E. Primary School.
Each September, we host an election during which students from every class are invited to run for election to our school council.
Every year, each child participates in the creation of their own class charter or regulations.
The students at Bicton C. E. Primary School are aware of how the British democracy operates, and several classrooms held mock elections during the 2017 general election to give the students a sense of participation in the electoral process.
Every year, all students fill out a survey or questionnaire that allows them to express their opinions about the educational experience at Bicton and offer suggestions for how the institution could be improved.
The value of laws is continually emphasised during the school day, as well as while dealing with behaviour and during school assemblies, whether they be those that control the class, the school, or the country.
Children are actively encouraged to make decisions and choices at school because they know they are in a secure and encouraging atmosphere.
Through lessons in PSHE, for instance, children are encouraged to know, understand, and exercise their rights and personal freedoms as well as given advice on how to do so securely.
Since we are a Church of England school, respect for one another is at the core of our values.
The impact of their actions and behaviours on both their own and other people's rights is something that children learn.
Due to the presence of class charters and regulations, all members of the school community treat one another with respect and are aware of their obligations to one another.
Due to the lack of cultural diversity in the area where Bicton C. E. Primary is located, we place a high priority on encouraging diversity among the students.
Our instruction in RE and PSHE encourages this.
Along with learning about Christianity, the students each year also investigate a different world religion.
All children learn about the doctrines and customs of followers of several world religions, such as Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism, before they leave our care.
To improve instruction in classes and throughout the school, people of all faiths are urged to share their knowledge.
As a Church of England school, we make sure that various faiths and beliefs are studied through our RE instruction, even though our daily worship focuses primarily on Christianity.
At Bicton C. E. Primary School, we shall oppose viewpoints that are at odds with core British Values, especially those that advocate "extreme" viewpoints.
The Bicton C. E. Primary Governing Body has a zero tolerance policy for extremist behaviour for all members of the school community.
Our work is guided by our strong moral principles, which also ensure that the pastoral care we provide for our kids shields them from contact with damaging influences.
All of the students at Bicton C. E. Primary School are entirely devoted to their safety and welfare.
As a school, we understand that preventing radicalization is much like preventing any other vulnerability.
All of our staff are expected to uphold and promote the fundamental principles of British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
Children's wellbeing, confidence and resilience is promoted through our curriculum and our wide range of extra- curricular learning opportunities.
Our curriculum promotes respect, tolerance and diversity.
Although serious incidents involving radicalisation have not occurred at our school to date, it is important for us to be constantly vigilant and remain fully informed about the issues which affect the region in which we teach.
