The book-gifting programme for English special schools and child referral units with students between the ages of 11 and 18 has now been discontinued.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), which is in charge of schools in England, has specially commissioned this most recent book in the School Library Association's Riveting Reads series.
It is financed by the DCSF and aims to advise readers about books that might interest and inspire all secondary school students to read for pleasure.
Both an online database and a PDF file of the booklist are accessible.
Go through the introduction.
a list of books The booklist itself, compiled by Eileen Armstrong, has over 260 books that young people ages 11 to 18 will appreciate, organised by memorable themes like "Boggle" and "Indulge."
Check out the Booklist.
She often reviews books for the trade press and leads highly interactive training sessions in the UK and overseas to assist teachers and librarians in inspiring readers of all ages and establishing "reading schools."
She founded the North East Book Award and is currently the UK KLQ Co-ordinator. She is also accountable for bringing the Kids' Lit Quiz from New Zealand to the UK.
She is the author of the SLA-published books Boys into Books 11–14, Riveting Reads 12–16, and Riveting Reads 16–19.
The introduction's author, Alec Williams, has extensive experience overseeing school library services in Chester, Lancashire, Calderdale, and Leeds.
Alec has written articles on libraries and storytelling, and his work now takes him around the UK and abroad (he regularly works for the British Council and is a member of IFLA's Reading and Literacy Section). Alec is also a regular visitor to schools where his high-energy poetry and storytelling also keeps him in touch with children and their reading.
He desires to ensure that everyone is reading, just like you. The Acknowledgments page expresses gratitude to the several individuals who contributed to Everyone's Reading.
