From the Almeley Primary School
With the Common at its back door and a stunning view of the surrounding countryside toward the Hay Bluff and the Black Mountains, this highly successful primary school is located in the centre of the hamlet of Almeley. The facilities, which are based on the ancient school and Master's house with contemporary additions, are superb. We use the nearby Parish Hall for larger gatherings. Only side roads branching off the main Kington to Hereford and Hereford to Brecon routes serve the isolated parish of Almeley. We take pleasure in our connections to the community, but the small size of our school creates an intimate setting with great relationships and kid-sized classes. Even though we have outstanding academic results, we also provide a variety of sporting and cultural opportunities to enrich and assist the children's development. We are aware that learning is most effective when there is a true partnership between the home and the school, and when parents sincerely care about the success of their children by promoting reading, asking and responding to questions, and participating in a variety of activities at home. We take pride in being available to talk about any part of your child's school experience with you and my staff. Our relationships with Almeley Church, Almeley Village Hall, Almeley Cricket Club, and the neighbourhood farms are outstanding. Organizations like Luctonians Rugby Club and Herefordshire Cricket are strong supporters of sports. Competitions amongst schools are organised by the Lady Hawkins educational complex. Additionally, we collaborate with Newport House Forest School and Kington Court Residential Home. We constantly seek collaboration and positive ties with our neighbouring schools. All these alliances support a rich learning environment for our students and staff interaction.
