From the Acorn Free School
On a recently renovated location on Calder Road in Lincoln, Acorn Free School began operations in September 2013. While still dual registered with their mainstream setting, students attend Acorn Free School. The optimal placement period for Key Stage 3 is 18 weeks, divided into 6 weeks of full-time work at Acorn, 6 weeks of meaningful transition, and 6 weeks of outreach. By doing this, we facilitate behaviour change, enable them to reach their full potential, lower the chance of exclusion, and raise the bar for success. Up until the end of Year 11, placements are offered to help Key Stage 4 students on a full-time, permanent basis. To make sure all students are prepared for the next phase of their lives, whether it be a college placement or an apprenticeship, we work closely with our mainstream partners.
