From the The Whitley AP Academy
is an Alternative Provision Academy that provides primary and secondary education in Calderdale. We changed to Impact Education Multi Academy Trust in August 2019 and are now a part of it. Currently, we can accommodate 80 students from third to eleventh grades. Calderdale Council is primarily responsible for commissioning places at the AP Academy, and they typically fall into one of two categories: those for students who have been permanently expelled from mainstream schools, and those for students who are at risk of permanent expulsion and are referred for a preventative placement with us. We collaborate with all of the local authority's schools in support of the larger initiative to lower exclusion rates and enhance inclusive practises. Being a small facility, we are also able to ensure that our curriculum is flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of students. Class sizes are smaller than in most settings, ranging from eight to eleven students per class, with class sizes being larger for older pupils. Our curriculum is broad and balanced, giving our students opportunities to develop their knowledge, understanding, and skills. In order to guarantee that our KS4 students continue their education, find employment, or get training after leaving The Whitley AP Academy, we also collaborate closely with C&K Careers.
