We are an academy and a founding member of the Lighthouse Learning Trust. We provide over 35 vocational courses and over 30 full-time A Level programmes for students between the ages of 16 and 19 as well as a wide range of enrichment options.
Our special size allows us to provide students with a welcoming, helpful, and loving atmosphere where their particular needs are handled on both an academic and pastoral level.
The institution embraces and supports the Southampton community by opening its doors for evening and weekend rentals, in addition to providing a number of part-time adult education courses.
Our institution is located in Upper Shirley, in the centre of Southampton, close to Southampton Common, and is reachable by many bus routes.
We have a lengthy past!
Hill College and the original Richard Taunton College, founded in 1969, merged in 1989 to form Taunton's College, which underwent a name change to Richard Taunton Sixth Form College in 2012.
A quick history lesson follows. Hill College was known as the Southampton Grammar School for Girls from 1907 to 1967.
It was renamed the Southampton College for Girls in 1967 and became one of the first sixth form institutions in the nation.
