From the King's Ely
Welcome to the great school that is King's Ely. We have had a lot of practise at our work since people have been schooled here, beneath Ely Cathedral, for well over 1,000 years. However, since children and young people are our future, we care more about them than about historical accomplishments or famous graduates. We provide for the educational and pastoral needs of about 1,000 boys and girls, ages 2 to 18, who board with us starting at age 7. We were founded to teach choristers, and today, we have two cathedral choirs—one for junior boys and one for senior girls—as well as choral scholars of both sexes in the sixth form. That just tells a small portion of the tale, and at King's Ely, we consider learning to be an adventure. All students are encouraged to take risks in their education, pushing themselves past their comfort zones and learning more about the world around them as well as themselves in the process. Our commitment to fostering a genuine love of learning in the children in our care and our conviction that every student can succeed when their preferred learning style is fully utilised set us apart from other organisations. This can be difficult, if not uncomfortable, but King's Ely pupils are aware of their teachers' confidence in them and their ability to support them, so they take the risks necessary to advance their learning.
