From the The Aspire Academy
a school that is secure, constrained, compassionate, lighthearted, and well-behaved, with strong nurturing relationships at its core. An environment where all students can thrive, grow, and achieve through a relentlessly reasonable approach to personal development opportunities for students to build their social capital, resilience, self-esteem, and a portfolio of recognised qualifications in order to make a positive next-step are presented in a world-class alternative provision, providing all students with the chance to reach a positive destination when they leave the Academy. By banding together to establish South Worcestershire's very own alternative provision free school, all the schools affiliated with the two South Worcestershire school partnerships took action in 2012 to decrease the rate of permanent exclusion in KS4 and improve outcomes for this cohort. The Aspire Academy began operations in September 2014, and as we enter our sixth year, we are expanding both in terms of student enrollment and commissioner trust as well as carving out a secure space in the County for the work we do and the services we offer. We have access to support services and our own team of devoted, experienced, and expert staff at the school, which is located on Bridgwater Road on the north-east edge of the city and right next to the Sixways junction of the M5. This allows us to increase the opportunities we can offer and support those organisations that are already providing for our young people. Advisors from the DfE have supported us along the way and will continue to do so as we gain confidence in our ability to provide what is truly a revolutionary approach to aiding some of the most difficult students in our schools. 120 full-time equivalent positions indicate the need for a combination of full- and part-time positions from the schools. The goal is to offer KS4 students full-time or part-time alternative programmes built around a core curriculum, a variety of excellent vocational programmes supported by work experience, and well-managed, meticulously assessed, and evaluated refocus interventions for KS3 students with excellent in-house and timely outreach support staff. Prior to accepting any job, The Aspire Academy Free School Trust will check for an enhanced DBS and references from prior suitable employers as part of their commitment to the safety of all children and young people in their care.
