The same blend of child-led and creative play is beneficial for our Day Nursery for children over 2, and as our blossoming toddlers start transitioning to the preschool curriculum, we start to gradually add a little more structure and routine. This approach to school preparedness is intended to help our kids get ready for the following phase of their fascinating educational journeys鈥攂ig school.
Our allocated spaces in the well-lit, well-designed rooms are well-resourced with tools and resources to support growing brains as they advance their literacy and writing abilities, arithmetic and problem-solving abilities, and technological abilities as well.
We seek to maximise the potential of each child in our care by utilising an individualised approach to learning, and we accomplish this by including fun into everything we do.
At Wickersley Nursery, the older toddlers have access to a private garden area with hills, sandpits, a mud kitchen, and quiet areas for play and exploration.
There is plenty of time for rhyme time, water play, singing, and the exciting activities we provide to meet with the EYFS statutory framework as our infants grow into toddlers and start to test their physical development. Here, the Early Years team focuses on early language, literacy, and numeracy development as well as communication. We very much consider ourselves to be a community nursery, and we make sure the kids are exposed to the neighbourhood and the outside world. We enjoy going to the adjacent parks on a weekly basis and doing excursions to nearby tourist attractions to reinforce educational concepts.
