The government unveiled a revised Special Educational Needs Code of Practice in September 2014 to serve children with SEND and disabilities.
Every child learns and grows at a different rate, and they all have both strong and weak points. If a kid continues to have more difficulty than their classmates learning and developing abilities after receiving adequate differentiated planning and assistance, they may have a special educational need. Communication and interaction, cognitive and learning, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, and sensory and/or physical requirements are the four main areas of need listed in the New Code of Practice. The child, family, class teacher, teaching assistants, and, if necessary, outside agencies are all closely coordinated by our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. We believe that parental and caregiver participation is essential to the development of all children, especially those who have been identified as having special educational needs.
An Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, which has taken the role of SEN statements for children and young people with more complex needs, may be required. Wherever possible, the school endeavours to meet the needs of children with statements or EHC plans and these children will be admitted to our school provided we are able to meet the requirements of their plans/statements.
Weedon Bec Primary is presently not wheelchair accessible, although applications for spaces from the parents or caregivers of children with disabilities will be favourably considered.
