Since its inception in 2003, The Strawberry Patch has become steadily stronger.
The staff are dedicated to their profession and take great pride in constantly striving to improve our setting and updating their knowledge through childcare courses and in-house training.
All of our staff are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked and regularly undergo training on safeguarding children and first aid.
Our staff provide a very loving family environment here at the Patch.
The staff range in age and experience, from mothers to grandmothers.
We cater for children from 9 months to 5 years and can take siblings up to 8 years within the holidays.
The nursery has four main rooms a baby room from 9 months to around 2 years, the transitional room for children from 20 months to around 2 years, the main room which caters for children from 2 to 4 years and the Pre-School room which operates for children who are starting school in the next academic year.
We offer a three week menu for parents to view.
Our aim is to create a warm and caring family environment with lots of fun and education thrown in.
Indoors we have four rooms, the Baby Room, Transitional Room, Main Room and Pre-School all of which includes creative spaces where the children can be messy with their play and creativity.
Additionally, there is a patio area where the children can ride on bikes and tractors and a grassy area where children can dig and experiment, both in the large sand pit or the special digging area.
We also have an area for the children who want to take time out or enjoy their imaginary play.
All the children share access to secure enclosed outdoor play areas which allow continuous free flow indoor/outdoor play, giving them the confidence to explore and learn in safe, secure and challenging environments.
Our outdoor area incorporates a large vegetable patch, a paddock area with wooden climbing equipment, an orchard, sensory garden and the Orchard Friends area.
We have two Orchard Friends leaders at The Strawberry Patch Emma and Rebecca and several of our Pre-School staff support.
This means we are able to offer our children Orchard Friends sessions, where children use natural resources to learn and develop, from making dens and using tools to growing vegetables.
Orchard Friends strongly develops all areas within the EYFS, allowing children to have first hand contact with nature and all it has to offer.
