The solution was known to Victorians in 1847.
Hainault Forest School was constructed.
On a Sunday, it was reported that Hainault Forest School had 76 more students in one large room.
The school eventually came under the administration of the Essex council after becoming isolated in the fields by Collier Row (as it is today).
It was expanded just before the First World War.
Even though the structure, which is now 100 years old, was renamed The Oaks, a Church of England Primary School, it was deemed too small and congested during the 1950s wave of school modernization.
It lost its young department in 1957, and ten years later it was shuttered due to inadequate equipment and repair needs.
The council, however, which recognised the structure as a distinctive memento of much earlier times, kept the demolition crews at bay.
Without this good fortune, the chance to rehabilitate the structure and its surroundings and, ideally, transform the centre into a location where kids, teens, and families may enjoy a variety of activities would not have presented itself.
Despite interest from a variety of sources, no money has materialised.
As soon as we started talking to young local youths, the vandalism ceased.
Everyone who was involved should be commended for this, and we invite everyone who is interested to participate in the events as we promised.
The Center will feature a dance/drama studio, an art/craft workshop, a quiet room, an indoor gym, an outdoor play area, an astro-pitch, and allotments as locations for leisure activities.
Now that our two-year planning was complete.
We opened our doors for two weeks of kid-friendly activities in August 2010 under the direction of the project's core team.
48 kids, ranging in age from 3 to 11, participated in theatre, dancing, culinary, football, art and craft, as well as many games, challenges, and other enjoyable activities.
These kinds of activity weeks are scheduled for upcoming half-terms and school breaks.
Additionally, beginning in September, there will be after-school care (Mondays to Fridays, 3.30 to 6pm).
Young people will frequent the dancing studio, and many of them might turn a primary-aged enthusiasm into a vocation in the future.
Vikki Pontefract, a drama and dance instructor, collaborates closely with us to market the Oaks Studio as a premier destination.
Many young people in the region have expressed interest in the astro-pitch.
In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to maintain communication with community police and the Marks Gate Community Center.
Please get in touch with us if you have any recollections, images, thoughts, or ideas about the Oaks' past or future.
