From the Sunshine Day Nursery
Sonia and Gary Hawthorne, along with Sonia's parents Henry and Theresa, started Sunshine in 1989. Initially, the group shared an upstairs apartment with Sonia and Gary's eldest son Josh. Over a thousand kids have come through our doors since then, and we've grown and improved with a number of additions, more outdoor area, and an increase in personnel. The frameworks and best practise guidelines established by the five different governments we have experienced over the years have changed significantly, but the guiding principles for what we do at Sunshine remain the same: to provide a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for your children to grow and develop. These continuity and stability that we have been able to provide make us quite proud, and we believe that it says volumes about the kind, welcoming service that we offer. We have several second-generation children with us, and their parents were some of the very first children at Sunshine. Sunshine's team of skilled and compassionate professionals is what makes us unique. Many of them have been with us for a significant amount of time, demonstrating their commitment to the kids, to Sunshine, and to what it means to them to be a part of what we do here. The staff is responsible for fostering a warm, joyful, and welcoming environment at Sunshine and making sure that all of the children entrusted to our care are contented.
