From the St Thomas's Nursery
Saint Thomass Nursery has operated from St Thomass church hall in Oakwood since 1992 and has been enjoyed by generations of families within the local area. We pride ourselves in providing children with the essential Early Years experiences to build the foundations for future learning.
At Saint Thomass Nursery we embrace being a pack away nursery and use this as an opportunity to look at the space as a blank canvas and build upon this daily. This implies that depending on the interests of the kids, we can set up differently every day. We provide opportunities to learn and develop new skills in all areas of the nursery through purposeful play.
Additionally, we have St. Johns Nursery in Palmers Green, which has been operational for more than 50 years.
2 to 3 years of age: 1 member of staff to 4 children.
3 to 5 years of age: 1 member of staff to 8 children.
All St. Thomass Nursery staff are required to undertake regular training to renew and develop their skills. The range of training includes paediatric first aid, child protection, health and safety, special educational needs (SEN) and behaviour management. Additionally, our staff members take Early Years Foundation Stage Framework-related supplementary training.
Our practitioners are qualified and have many years experienced in childcare. Every member of the nursery staff has at least a Level 2 qualification and is working toward a Level 3 qualification or higher. They have received First Aid and kid safety training. All of our staff members undergo DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks as part of the hiring process.
