We are a vibrant and inclusive local authority maintained nursery school just outside York city centre. We serve both our local community and the wider city. We offer care and education for three and four year old children between the hours of 7:30 am and 6pm, term time only.
We are also an enhanced resource school and have twelve places for children with Special Educational Needs. We are expert in working with children with SEN and our staff are trained in many aspects of SEN including alternative communications such as Makaton, PECS and visual timetables.
At St Paul's Nursery School we pride ourselves on providing a fantastic education for children and a first class transition to primary school. Our children move on to several different schools in the local area.
We work with the Early Years Foundation Stage which incorporates seven areas of learning including the prime and specific areas of:
Personal, Social and Emotional development
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Expressive Arts and Design
Understanding the World
Mathematics
Literacy
We respect each child as an individual and nurture the characteristics of learning, encouraging them to develop as talented and self confident individuals.
We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all children and encourage our pupils to learn to work together valuing each other and respecting the community and people they live amongst.
We offer rich and varied activities and experiences which are in tune with children's interests and believe strongly in giving children enrichment through books, theatre and drama, art and music. We run Forest School sessions regularly to give the children the opportunity to learn in the natural environment.
We work closely with our colleagues in the local area to share good practice and welcome students and visitors to our school.
