Catholic education entails being a part of a welcoming, empathetic, and sympathetic community where everyone is encouraged to consider others and care for our environment.
We think that our ethos serves as a point of reference and an anchor for who we are and who we hope to become.
In the end, we think that educating kids in the Catholic tradition allows them to develop in a protected and nurturing environment that fosters self-expression, builds self-esteem and respect, and promotes qualities like self-awareness, reflection, character strength, and a sense of justice and fairness in a world that is not always just and fair.
Saint Christinas School was founded in 1949 by the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Ignatian tradition which places great value on learning in its purest sense, alongside the development of the skills of listening, reflection, self-knowledge and independence.
We strive to establish an environment that enables kids to feel safe and happy because we are interested in their development in the broadest sense.
In addition to the close and trustworthy relationships that the kids have with their teachers, there are additional supports in place to help kids who might occasionally need extra help. These include small breakout focus groups, the work of the Learning Support staff, and, in terms of mental health, attending sessions where kids can talk to the pat dog about their feelings.
We seek to promote the growth of self-assurance, fortitude, and compassion.
We want the children who leave our community to be people who are valued for their kindness and their ability and desire to add to any environment that they become a part of.
We hope that all of our children will, in whatever path they choose to take in life, be people who make a difference. We want them to have a strong sense of justice and fairness, the capacity to absorb ideas, participate in spirited debate, exchange views with confidence and modesty, and adapt ideas based on consideration rather than whim.
Saint Christinas School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Our goal is for every student to reach their full potential.
