Sonya Cassidy, our Lead Ambassador, is a native of Nailsea. She has developed into a gifted actress since enrolling at RADA, with an exceptional body of work that includes performances at London's Old Vic Theatre and with Robert Lindsay and Joanna Lumley. Her role as Clara in the BBC television series The Paradise is arguably what makes her most well-known. She has additionally acted in the films Vera, The Woman in White, Humans, and most recently, Lodge 49, an American comedy-drama.
In 1986, Ann and a different group of mothers who had all raised small children with disabilities co-founded Springboard. They initially started Springboard for one session per week since they were unable to obtain the help they required throughout the formative years of their children's lives. After 30 years, Ann retired as CEO in July 2017. Despite this, she continues to support the charity in her capacity as honorary president by giving presentations and volunteering at fundraising events.
For her efforts with Springboard, Ann received the West Woman of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
Ann claimed that Springboard had influenced services for children in North Somerset who had special needs and disabilities when she resigned.
