Festivals and celebrations are only one of the many ways that different religions and civilizations around the world demonstrate their beliefs and values.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) recognises the importance of festivals and celebrations in fostering children's learning and development in all subject areas. Through these occasions, parents and teachers can help young children begin to recognise the universal human values found in all cultures and religions.
Children's understanding of and respect for other people's views are fostered as well as their self-confidence and self-esteem as they explain to others how they celebrate a festival or participate in a celebration.
We invite parents to send in festivities that their family celebrates at home so that we may celebrate and learn about them at childcare too, in order to ensure that we are building a diverse environment where all children's religions are explored.
