The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which establishes standards for the learning, development, and care of children from birth to five years old, must be followed by our nursery in England.
Seven areas of learning and development are included in the EYFS's learning and development section, and we use these areas to guide the educational plans in our nurseries.
The framework divides the areas of learning into Prime and Specific areas, even though all areas of learning and development are significant and interrelated.
A combination of adult-led and child-initiated activities must be used to implement each area of learning and development. These activities must be planned, intentional playtime.
Children learn by leading their own play, and by taking part in play which is guided by adults.
As children grow older, and as their development allows, it is expected that the balance will gradually shift towards more activities led by adults, to help children prepare for more formal learning, ready for Year 1.

The children within our care are treated as individuals and accordingly move to the next area/group of the nursery when they are ready to do so and only after parental and key person/group worker consultation.
