For our students, film and television is a crucial component of PQA and a special aspect of the PQA experience.
We think it's necessary for our students to take a module on the business of cinema and television, production, and screen acting, taught by professionals in the field.
Through the creation, filming, and showing of their own short films, the Film & Television experience at PQA provides children and young people with an excellent introduction to development, pre-production, and production procedures.
Our students are particularly interested in exploring performing for the camera, which is a very different talent than acting onstage.
Modern camera equipment is used throughout all of our Academies, and students are taught how to operate it.
Students are encouraged to experiment with a range of tasks in addition to acting for the camera, such as producing, directing, operating the camera, recording sound, designing costumes, and using makeup.
Every Academy provides red carpet Cinema Screening and Awards parties for students to celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends on the big screen! We have relationships with major movie theatre chains including VUE, Cineworld, and Everyman.
Additionally, PQA students get the chance to take part in free, local film festival activities at premier theatres, including screenings, master courses, workshops, and awards.
Every two years, PQA hosts the National Film Awards, a high-profile red carpet screening event in London's Leicester Square.
Young actors and filmmakers can use PQATV.com, our very own online TV station, as a platform to share their short films with a larger audience.
Additionally, these are streamed on our PQATV YouTube channel.
One Minute to Save the World, a filmmaking initiative run in collaboration with the Children's Media Conference to offer industry mentoring for up-and-coming talent, and PQA Script to Screen, a residential filmmaking course lasting one week, are just two of the incredible opportunities for young filmmakers provided by PQATV.com.
