UPG was established as a result of the Urban European Social Fund initiative, which was created to assist residents of the Edward Woods and White City estates. It expanded its service area to include Hammersmith & Fulham and the adjacent districts in 2008 when it combined with the Blythe Neighbourhood Council, which managed the Masbro Centre. UPG has developed steadily over the years and presently runs services and endeavours out of six Centers in the Borough.
These activities include managing Children's Centers, family outreach programmes, parenting classes offered throughout the borough, nursery and crche services, sports and recreation facilities, an older people service, estate-based community and public health community & maternity champions projects, volunteer work, adult education classes, employment support services, art and pottery workshops, and space management for the benefit of the larger community. A week at UPG, 4,500 service consumers are seen.
UPG is run by a capable management group and a board of trustees. It employs 17 full-time paid employees, 32 part-time paid employees, and about 100 unpaid part-time volunteers.
In 2018, the Urban Partnership Group acquired the freehold to two community facilities through a community asset project with Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
With one of our partners, the White City-based Harmony Community Day Nursery, we are about to extend affordable childcare services and sign a 30-year lease on a third centre, 49 Brook Green.
