From the Lordswood Leisure Centre
In 1982, the public was first allowed access to Lordswood Leisure Center.
There was no clear commitment, therefore a proposal to continue operating the facility on a 20-year lease was sent to the council. This was eventually approved, and the Lordswood Leisure Centre charity trust was established.
Lordswood Leisure Center is now administered and operated by locals on behalf of Medway Council after being established as a charitable trust in October 2004.
The facility has undergone significant renovations to improve the site since 2004. Two examples are the new Martin Grove Suite and our Acorns Health & Fitness Suite, which were formerly a viewing gallery and squash courts.
When the Quee Suite was introduced in 2010, our smaller ancillary hall was renovated into an exquisite indoor marquee with multiple colour uplighters, a bar, and other amenities.
When necessary, the Quee Suite works as a fully functional indoor marquee/venue for events as well as a smaller sports hall for recreation and sports.
The Grand Quee Suite, a massive indoor marquee to fill the 155 feet by 55 feet space, was also announced later in the year.
The ability to remove the enormous marquee for use for other sporting and recreational events ensures that the Grand Quee Suite, like the Quee Suite, retains its complete versatility.
The complete Acorns Health & Fitness Suite underwent renovations between the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015.
As the centre expands, we make daily improvements while investing all revenues back into the facility to make your visit more enjoyable.
Most of the organisations that use the Center are run by volunteers.
We are quite glad to state that some of our members are well into their 80s and still love their leisure centre. Our objectives are always simple: to encourage kids and adults of all ages, religions, and backgrounds to use leisure facilities.
