Aspire is a nationwide nonprofit organisation that assists those who have suffered paralysis due to a spinal cord injury in daily life.
Aspire provides helpful support to the 50,000 persons living with spinal cord injuries in the UK through its projects and programmes.
Aspire is committed to eliminating the physical restrictions, financial constraints, and social prejudice that separate handicapped and non-disabled individuals in order to create a future in which persons with spinal cord injuries have an equal position in society.
The Sir Norman Foster-designed Aspire National Training Centre had a training room, canteen, dance studio, and swimming pool that was accessible to those with wheelchairs.
The building was opened by HRH the Duke of York, who was escorted through by Margaret (Lady) Tebbit, vice president of Aspires.
