Hummingbirds is a nonprofit organisation that operates apart from the nearby SS. Mary and Michael Primary School. We are licenced by Ofsted to care for up to 30 toddlers and preschoolers. SS Mary & Michael parishioners, teachers, and parents came up with the brilliant idea to open a pre-school educational nursery in 1994. The nursery of the church presbytery initially opened its doors in 1997 after a great deal of effort and dedication. Hummingbirds moved into a permanent nursery room with a safe outdoor play space at Castle Lane Community Centre in October 2006. We also have a small vegetable patch, a construction zone, a big sandpit, a mini-beast area, and a magnificent Playdale climbing and sliding system. Other indoor spaces are available for enrichment activities like dance, football, tennis, and yoga. The outdoor play and nature areas of the neighbouring school are frequently used by us. We will have a staff member with level 3 forest school certifications starting in September 2021, enabling us to provide regular forest school programmes. The nursery is accessible to everyone and has grown increasingly successful and well-liked over time. SS Mary and Michaels Catholic Primary School, Garstang Community Primary School, Scorton, St. Mary's Calaughton, Nateby, Bleasdale, and St. Thomas' are just a few of the primary schools in the neighbourhood that Hummingbirds graduates have gone on to start. The safety and wellbeing of your children are very important to us at Hummingbirds.
