Simply said, alternative provision is out-of-school instruction for kids who can't attend a regular school due to special needs, impairments, behavioural issues, nervousness, or other factors. It provides youngsters with the chance to study and grow even when a classroom setting is inappropriate.
We currently assist the county's roughly a dozen schools, their students, and their families.
We use a very child-led approach and provide possibilities in a variety of activities, including cooking, whittling, sawing logs, and utilising tools. We construct various structures, such as bird houses and dens, keep the area upkeep, plant and raise bulbs and vegetables, collect them, prepare them, and learn how to use them.
If a student demonstrates a special talent or interest, such as cooking or constructing computers, we look for methods to promote and foster this. For instance, our neighbourhood bicycle project helps kids develop real-world engineering and problem-solving abilities while also boosting their confidence and self-esteem.
In addition to teaching children practical skills, our goal is to support their physical, social, and emotional growth. They might learn how to win and lose by playing table tennis, or they might hone their fine motor skills by making a balista, or they might even gain better balance by taking up cycling.
Every day during lunch, we encourage all students to eat with the staff and volunteers. There are several opportunities to socialise with kids and adults from all throughout the Adventure Playground neighbourhood.
