Each session at Chatterbox offers the kids the chance to participate in the following activities.
Children congregate in the main room when they arrive.
Once a brief period of free play and after everyone has arrived, a bell will be rung, at which point the kids will move to the book corner to complete official registration.
Every day, there will be a time spent in small groups in the main room.
The kids also have access to "static activities" like the writing table, home corner, and book corner in addition to daily activities that change.
The children have access to sand and water play as well as other imaginative, educational, and exploratory activities in the messy room.
To provide all the kids a chance to participate, cooking occurs a few times during a term.
The children either take their cooking home or we sample it together at snack time, depending on what has been prepared.
Every class includes a break for snacks.
The kids find their name cards and sit in small groups, phonically spelling it out.
There is a nutritious snack available, including fruit, cheese, breadsticks, and houmous.
Though they are allowed to bring a packed lunch, we encourage all students to join us for a delicious and nutritionally sound hot lunch (supplied by Wiltshire Farm Foods), which is followed by high tea at 5 o'clock for full-time students.
Lunch and high tea begin with the kids locating their name place setting and phonically spelling it out, just like snack time.
Family-style service at the table allows everyone, including the staff, to gather together to not only share a meal but also to communicate with one another, fostering social engagement and growth.
Children are taught to use cutlery and to stay at the table until everyone has completed eating.
We welcome a wide variety of guests into Chatterbox, including nurses, doctors, dentists, and firefighters, to speak with the kids on subject-related issues.
We periodically go to the playgrounds or take walks across the countryside.
Every visitor is checked in, and the kids are never left alone with visitors.
