The Prevent responsibility went into effect on July 1, 2015.
Every school and licenced early childhood provider has a responsibility to take this obligation seriously in order to avoid recruiting new terrorists.
You must be on the lookout for any cause for worry in the lives of the children in your care in order to keep them safe.
This involves being alert of the dissemination of extreme viewpoints.
The four British values were created expressly to combat extremism and to assist safeguard children's wellbeing, which is a responsibility of all providers who follow the EYFS.
At Burrough Green Playgroup, our work is strongly rooted in the promotion of British values.
Accordingly, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in England imposes specific obligations on providers to ensure children's wellbeing and maintain their safety.
What is the obligation to prevent?
From July 1, 2015, all daycare centres and schools must give consideration to the need to keep kids from being pulled into terrorism.
As stated in the Prevent strategy, the government defines extremism as "vocal or active opposition to fundamental British Values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs." The government should be able to show that they are doing this by having strong safeguarding policies that prevent children and teenagers from becoming involved in terrorism.
