On the outskirts of Desford Village, Bosworth Academy looks out over the open countryside.
In 1969, Bosworth Community College was established in Desford to take the place of the previous Grammar School in Market Bosworth.
Bosworth Academy has always been a mixed comprehensive Upper School for students between the ages of 14 and 19.
The Academy started the process of converting to an 11–19 school in September 2014.
As a result, we had a 150-student Year 7 intake in September 2014, and we currently have more over 250 Year 7 children, making us oversubscribed.
The curriculum is cutting-edge and offers students a wealth of possibilities to build the skills necessary for success in the future.
Inspectors heard from students who transferred to Bosworth Academy from other secondary schools that they valued the superior extracurricular opportunities available to them here.
The interactions between students and teachers are good.
The sixth form has been a very beneficial experience for the students.
Students in the sixth form are an essential component of the school community.
The Maximizing Learning Team at Bosworth Academy monitors students' welfare, attendance, behaviour, and development (MLT).
Students are assigned to mixed-ability tutoring groups of about 28 students in ALL YEARS.
At Bosworth, it has long been customary for students to participate in all hiring decisions.
We have also established a weekly student voice drop-in where students may talk about their educational experiences and offer suggestions for how the academy can perform better.
At Bosworth Academy, our actions are guided by a set of core values that we hold dear.
No kid will underachieve, is the motto our staff lives by.
The leadership of the Academy aspires to be transparent and collaborative, relying on collaboration at all levels.
The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and 6 Team Leaders currently make up the Extended Leadership Team.
There are also frequent meetings for the entire staff of the school, meetings for the Academic and Year teams, and each member of the teaching staff is assigned to a Network Group that meets regularly.
There are more than 90 teachers and more than 100 associate employees.
The importance of continued professional growth is significant.
The recent emphasis on exceptional learning has resulted in specialised tools and a shared vision for learning that, for instance, guides lesson planning and evaluation as we get closer to our particular model for excellent.
This puts learning at the core of all we do.
All employees are encouraged to advance their knowledge and abilities and take on new duties.
Investors in People has accredited the academy.
There is a close working relationship with the Academy Governors, who support each other in the execution of their additional authority and duties.
Using committees, the Governing Body is made up of Community, Parent, and Staff Governors (Steering, Finance, People and Stakeholders, Learning and Teaching and Infrastructure).
The staff members who offered to lead sports teams, music and drama workshops, orchestra and choir productions, and drama productions were a valuable contribution to the academy.
We provide a variety of field trips and cultural outings throughout the year.
