The DfE reaffirmed the necessity of establishing and upholding a strict and explicit requirement that all schools uphold the core British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and respect for people of all faiths and beliefs.
These principles are constantly emphasised at Anston Park Infant School, and we also prepare students for life in contemporary Britain in the following ways across the curriculum.
In the study of history, students learn about the parallels and divergences between the lifestyles of various historical eras, the manner in which changes within recent memory show changes in national life, and the significance of events that occurred nationally in the past.
Respect and tolerance are the main topics of discussion at our gatherings.
We are a Rights Respecting School (Level 1), and the theme of rights and duties permeates every aspect of our school culture.
All during the day, the class and school charters are continually reaffirmed.
The Police, Fire, and Ambulance services' attendance in assemblies or individual courses helps us to emphasise the rules that govern the nation.
Children are inspired to utilise their initiative, be autonomous, and make decisions throughout the school thanks to our secure learning environment.
Children are taught to respect others' opinions and feelings, even when they differ from their own, during their time in school.
Assemblies are used to examine and comprehend how different faiths are similar.
We utilise the SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) tools to improve the teaching of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and one of our curriculum themes is learning about various religions. We also use the agreed-upon Rotherham RE syllabus.
