Children and young people (CYP) ages 6- 16+ can receive training in Western and African diaspora dance styles, music, and performing arts through the community arts education organisation AkomaAsa Arts. The institution provides two art education programmes: Performing Arts and African Diaspora Dance & Music. AkomaAsa Arts was founded in 2005 by Akosua Boakye BEM and officially debuted in 2012. It works with the assistance of parents, creative people, organisations, and the voices of our CYP. Through cooperative working relationships, we engage in the ongoing process of teaching and learning about the social, cultural, and historical ties between Africa, the Caribbean, and the West. Our programmes are specifically designed to support the upcoming generation of artists and entertainers. CYP are encouraged to engage, inspired to learn, and supported in developing the confidence and self-esteem necessary to enable them to rise to today's difficulties in a dynamically vibrant setting that is compassionate and safe. Children and young people (CYP) are encouraged to be themselves, empowered by dance, music, and performing arts to have fun, take chances, and strive toward their goals while gaining transferrable life skills.
